Pond care
Stretch a large piece of small-mesh
netting over ponds and water features
to prevent autumn leaves from falling in.
Peg down the edges. Pick off leaves
regularly and remove any that blow
in with a small net, taking great care
not to damage butyl liners. Also clear
away remains of dying aquatic and
marginal plants.
Leaves
If like us you have a row of conifers
and trees lining the rear fence this
time of year can be a nightmare.
Investing in a shredder even for the
smallest garden is a great idea. It is
so satisfying when the machine eats
up all the twigs and leaves ready for
the compost bin. The garden shredder
just makes life so much easier and
that's something we could all do with.
Plant spring bulbs
Plant bulbs such as daffodils, crocuses,
fritillarias, irises and hyacinths, leaving
tulips until late October or even early
November.

Greenhouse Now that temperatures are dropping rapidly you need to bring tender perennials into the greenhouse for winter. If you have any plants that are too big to bring in they will need to be carefully wrapped up in fleece the more tender the thicker the covering will need to be. e.mail Linda with questions on any aspect of
gardening or plant care advice.
